The Hilton Head area’s daily newspaper, THE ISLAND PACKET, led with this article last week: Area Housing Market Bucks Downward Trend. The article sited South Carolina Association of Realtors statistics showing that the Hilton Head area and neighboring Beaufort were two of only threee areas in South Carolina where sales were better in July 2010 than in July 2009.

The amazing thing about the resiliency of the Hilton Head area market is that EVERY SINGLE MONTH this year has been better than the same month in 2009! Most of the nation was down this July because of the end of the federal tax credit. Historically, the strength of the Hilton Head area market is due in large part to the quality of the real estate.
