In an article dated, July 19, 2012, the Island Packet has reported that across the nation, builders broke ground on the most new homes and apartments in nearly four years last month, the latest evidence that the housing market is recovering. It further states that Hilton Head Island reported an increase of 17 housing permits, totalling 45 , while Bluffton reported a slight increase of 57 permits for new single family houses during the first three months of 2012, compared with 50 during the same period last year.
